IDAHO STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES

In July, 1911 the state of Idaho began collecting
death information at the state level.  Prior to that
time, death records or registers were kept at the
county level.

1.  Death Certificates

Death certificates are on microfilm at the
Library for certificates #1-107-562 (1911-1937).
Later certificates can be ordered from the Department
of Health and Welfare--Vital Statistics.  Contact
information, requirements and a record request form
can found by going to the state's website at:
www.state.id.us

2.  Newspapers

The Library has an excellent collection of Idaho
newspapers on microfilm (some going back to the
1860s).

3.  County Records

Many county records (including cemetery records,
birth, marriage, and death registers) are in the
Library's collection, both on microfilm and in printed
formats.

4.  The Library staff will do research and lookups.
They can be contacted at:

450 N. 4th Street
Boise, ID  83702-6027
